MN Book Award Finalist!

Hey gang,

I’ve been in disbelief for the last few weeks, but ALHAMDULILLAH, Allah is great.

Are You Borg Now? was recently named a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award in Memoir & Creative Nonfiction. This is a major win for someone like me, a dude who feels he’s always been an underdog. Writing has saved my life on countless occasions, so I’m beyond grateful for my writing to be recognized in this way.

I’ve heard that the Memoir category is one of the most competitive ones every year, so I am absolutely thrilled about all this. I honestly still can’t believe it. And I give my thanks to Allah for always finding a way for me. And of course I have to thank all the people who held me down over the years, who believed in me, my writing and this book. Special shoutout to my publisher, Really Serious Literature, for being the first ones to believe in this book. Much love, y’all.

Whatever happens next, I consider this a major win. Not too long ago I was fighting for my life. Overcame so much just to get to this point. I made a commitment to dedicate my life to writing a long time ago, because writing kept saving my life. And Allah has been so good to me. From passing out drunk in the streets to being a published author… I have so much gratitude for Him. All things are possible through Him.
